Memoria de Barro nace de una analogía entre el barro y el cuerpo como territorios vivos de memoria. El proyecto se construye desde Tunja y dialoga con su arquitectura en tierra para pensar la fragilidad, la resistencia y las formas en que el tiempo transforma tanto la materia como las historias que habitamos

A través de técnicas como el barrido digital, la naturaleza muerta, el paisaje, los retratos y una paleta que evoca la tierra, la obra establece similitudes formales entre piel, historia y materialidad. No se trata de mostrar casas de barro ni registros documentales, sino de trasladar esa sensibilidad hacia una exploración visual contemporánea, donde lo tradicional deja de ser un vestigio del pasado para convertirse en metodología, metáfora y punto de partida

La propuesta invita a cuestionar por qué lo “tradicional” suele valorarse solo como patrimonio estático, cuando también contiene un potencial profundo para imaginar la modernidad. Como las construcciones de tierra que persisten o se erosionan, la memoria exige ser nombrada, habitada y reparada para permanecer

Memoria de Barro no ofrece respuestas definitivas: abre un espacio de pausa para observar lo que suele pasar desapercibido, reconocer las huellas de quienes habitan la ciudad y preguntarnos qué elegimos mantener vivo, qué queremos recordar o qué debemos conservar y cómo puede la tradición participar en el futuro sin quedar confinada a la nostalgia.

Memoria de Barro is built on an analogy between clay and the human body as living territories of memory. The project grows from the city of Tunja and its earthen architecture, exploring fragility, resistance, and the ways time transforms both matter and the stories we carry

Through digital motion blur, still life, landscape, portraiture, and a palette inspired by earth tones, the work creates formal connections between skin, history, and materiality. It does not aim to document traditional clay constructions; instead, it uses them as a sensibility and a starting point for a contemporary visual exploration where tradition becomes method, metaphor, and creative ground

The project invites us to question why “the traditional” is often valued only as something from the past, when it also holds powerful potential to shape modernity. Like earthen structures that remain or slowly fade, memory must be named, inhabited, and repaired in order to endure

Memoria de Barro does not offer fixed answers. It opens a space to pause, to notice what usually goes unnoticed, and to recognize the constant presence of earth in everyday life. It invites us to see the traces of those who inhabit the city and to reflect on what we choose to keep alive: what we want to remember, what we should preserve, and how tradition can take part in the future without becoming trapped in nostalgia
